I thought why not make a topic with roleplaying tips for each other to help each other to improve their roleplaying and make it all more "Star Wars". If the mods feel this thread is in the wrong place please relocate it Smile

Okey, first tips. Something I recommend for everyone! (Even if you are a super Star Wars geek like myself that have read way to many Star Wars comics and alike)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page - Wookieepedia, you can find absolutely anything that has to do with Star Wars here. I always look through it when I search for fitting planets for roleplaying, ship types, weapon types, slang and insults, you name it! Can be worth taking a look at if you have trubble finding the stuff you want in the RPing session Smile

When you emote a hostile action towards another person, do not describe the effects or his reaction/damage for him. This is classed as god-emoting, and is frowned upon by other roleplayers. You also might want to be modest in your character's abilities. Of course you are a hero, and a fancy move here and there is perfect. Just remember that it's not the bloody force unleashed or something like that. <sagely nod>

*Nods in aggrement* Yes, don't EVER write that some other players arm gets chopped of for example. How ever, writing short and none complex conversations between your character and another players character, to get the story going, can be alright. But you have to keep in mind how that player would respond to anything you say. Be careful when you use this though!

Describing some smaller, simple actions may also be alright, but samething here. Be very careful when using this! Actions like example: [Jon-Shiar walked up to the door, pulled the lever down making it open] or [Jon-Shiar lit his lightsaber and took a defensive position]. Small, simple, not complex and not bad. Can be alright, but be careful!

Also, allowing your character to take a few hits sometimes can be a good thing. This shows that your character have his/her limits as well. For example [The rocket exploded just a few meters away from Xantos, sending him flying through the air and landing hard on the ground, immedietly getting knocked unconsious.] or [The Sith held Xantos in the air using the force. Xantos saw the Sith warrior holding up his lightsaber, ready to strike him down..], if you write something like the last example you can acctually leave it hanging and let someone rescue you. But if you rescue someone in a situation like that. Be careful so you don't god mode! Smile
