History of the Silver Vanguard

The Silver Vanguard, named after the Hammerhead Republic vessel that serves as their flagship, is a union of Jedi, Smugglers and Troopers that have taken it upon themselves to protect the worlds that the Republic no longer can due to the Treaty of Coruscant.

The organization goes back to before the war, to a Republic infantry regiment. Many of the members of this specific regiment were born, raised and recruited on the outer rim worlds that the Republic was forced to abandon after the treaty was signed. Fearing for their loved ones, now that the single barrier that stood between their homes and the Sith Empire was gone, they unanimously decided to break away from the Republic. Taking their gear and their ship with them, they set out to do what the Republic could not, joining up with local resistance forces to try and keep the Empire from their homes. Though technically in violation of the law, the Republic could not deny the value that the Silver Vanguard provided: Protection for the rim worlds while at the same time they could deny involvement.

While throughout the Republic and the Empire The Silver Vanguard came to be known as ‘just another mercenary group’, there were still people who saw past that ruse. Unhappy troopers, smugglers and even the occasional maverick Jedi joined forces with the Vanguard. While initially finding success in many struggles, the Vanguard was too small for the straightforward tactics the Troopers were used to and eventually found a crushing defeat at the hands of a Sith Lord by the name of Darth Inflictus at the battle of Raddan. Inflictus, who had a sound tactical mind, saw the threat that the Vanguard would pose to the Empire if it were allowed to grow. The Vanguard’s Hammerhead serving as their flagship was no match for the immense Harrower that Inflictus had at his disposal. In a space conflict that lasted less than fifteen minutes, nearly seventy five percent of the Silver Vanguard found their deaths.

Now, ten years after the Treaty of Coruscant the fragile peace that exists between the Empire and the Republic is in the balance. Conflicts are arising at different places in the Galaxy. Shon-Tel, a Jedi who was sympathetic to the cause of The Silver Vanguard in the height of their existance, has decided that it can only be for the good of the Galaxy that they return.
